The Ottawa area Real Estate board witnessed a 12.9 % slowing in sales growth in comparison to October 2009, and that the amount of units sold saw a 2% reduction. Represented in these numbers are 221 condos 821 single detached homes sold. The Housing Board reported that the Ottawa and area market has moved towards a more balanced state. More positively, the report went on to mention that, although growth has slowed, the average sale price of Ottawa homes, including condominiums, sold in October 2010 revealed an increase of 6.8 % over October 2009 with an increase of 13.4% over October 2009 for condo units and an increase of 5% for single detached homes. Low mortgage rates, a solid economy and affordable housing in Ottawa helped contribute to this growth in year over year sales.
